Although Debbie was due to have her cesarean section on Tuesday, September 20th, 2005, at 8:00am, Baby Junie decided that was too long to wait! She began to have contractions around midnight and woke Lester Sr. to take her to the hospital.

* Special note: Dr. Carol Patin showed Lester and Debbie the umbilical cord during the C-Section, and it was tied in a loose knot! She said that this is usually a very dangerous thing for the baby, because if they move too much, the knot can tighten and be fatal to the child. THANK YOU JESUS, Baby Junie is a miracle baby! He didn't move enough to tighten the knot in the cord, and was born healthier than ever!

August 20th, 2005 - 5:00pm to 9:00pm - Lester and Debbie's Co-Ed Celebration!

Held at the beautiful home of Joycelyn Johnson, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Hosted by Joycelyn Johnson and yours truly, friends/co-workers of Debbie Knatt-Jones.

The day was typical for Baton Rouge, Louisiana - hot and muggy. With the air conditioning kicked up as high as it would go, the home was still fairly warm, especially due to the number of people who came to the party!

Debbie and Lester's popularity was more than evident by the amount of people who came to help them celebrate their new addition - Lester O'Neal Jones Jr. aka "Junie" - who is due on September 26th, 2005.

The itinerary was as follows:

* 5:00 - 5:30 pm Meet and Greet (Guests show up and mingle, grab a few drinks and snacks. Also, we gave everyone a birthday card for Lester Junior. There were eighteen cards, for each year of the baby's life from 1-18 years old. Different people who attended the party signed one card each, for a different year, and they signed any advice or words of encouragement they may have for the baby on that year. Debbie will give the cards to the baby on his birthday for each corresponding year. Cute idea, and mommy gives it a thumbs up!)

* 5:30 - 6:00 pm Introductions (Guests introduce themselves to the group and explain their relation to the expectant couple.)

* 6:00 - 7:00 pm Baby Taboo (As the guests were introducing themselves, they received a sticky note attached to their backs. On it were the "clues" to the Taboo game we would play next. Guests were to help eachother to guess the words on their own backs by giving eachother clues, and the top two people with the most clues guessed received gifts! Great way to get people talking to eachother.)

* 7:00 - 7:30pm Dinner (A delectable layout was presented - all prepared by aspiring Chef LaJorde, 15 year old daughter of Joycelyn Johnson! It was an impressive spread: brisket, chicken, vegetables, fettucine, jambalaya, and a delicious fruit cocktail were served along with cake for dessert. At this time, everyone was asked to look under their plates to see if they had a marking which named them a winner of another guest gift!)

* 7:30 - 8:00pm Gifts (Debbie opened a huge selection of gifts ranging from diapers and baby shampoo to clothes and toys, and even an extra tall safety gate WITH ALARM! At this time, Debbie also presented Lester with his gifts - a belated anniversary gift (3 years!!) - a romantic poem:

"Every since you became a man
You've always wanted a son.
Now in a few weeks
You will get your very 1st one.
The joy that you will feel
Is the joy that you've been missing.
Here is a little something
For you and your son to go fishing!"
...and two fishing tackle boxes, one engraved with Lester Sr.'s name, and the other with Lester Jr.'s, for those future fishing expeditions!)

* 8:00 - 8:30pm Baby Cha Cha Slide (All guests moved out into the outdoor patio area, and we began to play the Cha Cha Slide song - some may be more familiar with the Electric Slide? A gift bag was passed around while the dance was performed, and when the music stopped, whoever had the bag in their hand had to use whatever was in the bag. There were gift certificates in some of them, but you may have had to wear a diaper to receive it!)

* 8:30 - 9:00pm Wrap up and Mingle (Everyone said their goodbyes and thanked Joycelyn for allowing us to ambush her gorgeous home for a few hours. Debbie brought her treasure home to her new nursery. )

It was a wonderful night overall, and I want to personally thank everyone who made an effort to attend, and to those who were not able to come, I'd like to thank you for your congratulatory thoughts and prayers during this blessed time in Debbie and Lester's lives together.
